Summer Fest 2013 – A Huge Success

S27

The Summer Festival was held in Cloonacool on the weekend of 16 to 18 August 2013

A Family Movie night and a family Car Treasure Hunt brought families out in huge numbers to enjoy the excitement and the challenge.

Haturday night brought out the adults in style with many versions of home made hats worn in style on lovely heads. A great night was enjoyed by all and the creations were only out of the world.

Sunday Fun day saw crowds ascend on the Community Centre in lovely sunshine.  The Bouncy castle was in full demand while the children’s corner provided a quiet spot to paint or play with toys.  The puzzle table left many adults puzzled!!

The Cake Sale table was laden down with all types of goodies all donated by our very generous bakers.

Afternoon Tea was provided all day in a beautiful tea room specially set up for the day. Home made baking was the main attraction here and the choice was unbelievable!

The Cube ran all day with people returning over and over again to challenge the excellent games provided.  Late in the day one person beat the Cube.

The wet sponges had their usual victims and the crowds flocked around to catch a glimpse of the brave contestants.

Face Painting had a queue most of the day as the younger generation enjoyed the transformation provided.

Pamper corner provided a peaceful haven for a hand massage and beautiful nails.

FIFA and Mario tournaments ran all day. FIFA tournament ended up with the winner challenging Raffaele in a final game.  Great excitement for all the young people to meet Sligo Rover Star Raffaele.

Information Stands were provided to showcase events held in the Centre at present and to open Bookings to all events in the future.  Contact number for Bookings 087 3300194

“Working Together”

We sincerely thank you for your on-going support in raising funds for the refurbishment of our community centre.  Over the past year, there have been many fund raising activities including cake sales, céilís, Croagh Patrick climb, raffles etc. and we acknowledge and thank you for taking part and contributing to these.  Our last letter highlighted the prevailing “Working Together” theme that makes Cloonacool such a warm and special community.  In the letter we made an appeal for funding from each household and had an overwhelming response with €11,896 in contributions received to-date.

Your donations have made a significant difference to the development of the centre and have helped to provide the building blocks for future generations in our community.  For this and for your support in all ventures we would like to say “Thank You”!

The centre is now open for business.  In the months ahead, there will be Card Games, Summer Festival, Music and a Christmas Gathering and many other events that bring us together as one community.  The newly refurbished centre is for you and all of us to share, so we hope that you can take part in future activities and suggest new ideas for the use of the centre.  The centre will be available for private family functions as well as community gatherings.

Thank you for taking ownership of this special project.  We wish you many years of entertainment, education and happiness in your new community centre.  Thank you for being part of this special piece in Cloonacool’s history, let us continue to work together and enjoy the success!
